2025-2026 Season
Registration is now open!
We offer a range of programs in Alamance County and Guilford County, including after-school classes, Saturday classes, and private lessons. Our offerings include instruction for piano, ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), and wind/brass instruments (clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute, etc.). Our classes go beyond instrumental training to support holistic musicianship and integrate mindfulness-based social-emotional learning activities to enhance personal well-being and musical performance.
Financial aid applications must be submitted to be considered for tuition assistance.

Registration is now open for our 2025-2026 Season! Join us for Weekday classes in Guitar, Piano, Wind Band, or embark on a journey through our Saturday programming!
Weekday Classes
Weekday group classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays. Each student receives 45 minutes of weekly instruction in a small group with others at a similar skill level.
- Beginners will focus on building strong technical and ear-training foundations while preparing short performance pieces to showcase at the end of each semester.
- Intermediate and advanced students will continue developing those core skills while also tackling more complex musical challenges and enjoying performance opportunities beyond our end-of-semester concerts!
Students can expect to arrive between 4:30 - 7:00 PM for each 45-minute class they are participating in, and leave with a snack in hand! Instrument loans are provided free of cost for eligible classes.
All Weekday students perform twice a year - once each semester - at our Guilford and Alamance Weekday Recital.
Saturday Classes
Saturday students dive into three full hours of music-making through their chosen Instrument Path - Strings or Piano - along with engaging classes in Modern Band and General Music to broaden their skills and versatility.
- Beginners will develop solid technique on their main instrument, explore basic music theory, and even get hands-on with electric instruments as they prepare to rock out in band.
- Intermediate and advanced students build on these foundations with more challenging repertoire and get the chance to perform at community events—including our biggest show yet: Electrify Your Symphony!
Students on Saturday can expect to arrive at 9:30 AM and leave by 1:00 PM with a hot, healthy meal each week. Instrument loans are provided free of cost for eligible classes.
All Saturday students perform twice a year - once each semester - at our FRUCC Seasonal Concert.

Financial Aid
&
Scholarships
YMA aims to make high-quality music instruction accessible to all musicians.
Financial aid and scholarships are awarded on a case-by-case basis.
Upon submitting your program application, please fill out the financial aid application form as soon as possible (and definitely prior to the class start date) in order for the financial aid committee to have time to process the application and to notify families, teachers, and staff.
Financial aid for private lessons is limited due to the model of the program, with somewhat greater availability for group classes. Multiple-family-member tuition discounts are available.
Scholarships are awarded based on faculty nominations of students who have been with YMA for a minimum of one year. There are no separate applications for these awards.
