Private Lessons

Interested in private lessons for piano, guitar, violin, or anything under the Sun? We offer flexible scheduling with accredited teaching artists for lessons of your choice.

Now offering private lessons for children, teens and adults!

Private lessons are available for all instrument types. Lessons will take place weekly, excluding Holidays and mandated breaks for our Teaching Artists.

Please note that some instruments are currently waitlisted. These instruments include:

  • Voice
  • Cello
  • Upright Bass (Double Bass)
  • Brass Instruments (Trumpet, Tuba, Trombone, etc.)
  • Woodwinds not including Flute

If you are interested in taking lessons for waitlisted instruments, please fill out the Waitlist Application underneath the Private Lessons Application button. This form does not require a trial lesson fee. Once we have built a robust studio for a waitlisted instrument, we will contact you regarding the application and scheduling a trial lesson!

Applications require a non-refundable, non-transferrable trial lesson fee of $30. This covers the cost of one, 30-minute trial lesson with the Teaching Artist your musician is paired with - allowing you or your musician and the Teaching Artist to determine if the pairing is a good fit!

All lessons require a monthly rate depending on the time and setting of your class of choice. Financial Aid is available on a sliding-scale basis, and will be determined upon Financial Aid application review.

Financial Aid

&

Scholarships

YMA aims to make high-quality music instruction accessible to all musicians.
Financial aid and scholarships are awarded on a case-by-case basis.

Upon submitting your program application, please fill out the financial aid application form as soon as possible (and definitely prior to the class start date) in order for the financial aid committee to have time to process the application and to notify families, teachers, and staff.
Financial aid for private lessons is limited due to the model of the program, with somewhat greater availability for group classes. Multiple-family-member tuition discounts are available, beginning at 20% for two students.
Scholarships are awarded based on faculty nominations of students who have been with YMA for a minimum of one year. There are no separate applications for these awards.
