  • Homeschool Music Collective (HMC)

    Young Musicians of Alamance (YMA) is committed to expanding access to high-quality music education for all young learners across the Triad.


    Our new Homeschool Music Collective offers a flexible, trial program designed specifically for homeschooled students ages 5 and up.


    Students can explore a variety of musical pathways, including Wind Band, Orchestra, Modern Rock Band, Piano, and General Music/Music Theory. Flexible scheduling options are available for families interested in private lessons.


    A $25 non-refundable registration fee per family (not per student) is required at enrollment.

    Group Classes Offered


    We will conduct a five-week trial run of this program between 11/11/25-12/19/2025. Classes will be $15 per week per class ($75 total for one group class for one student). A non-refundable $25 fee is required upon registration per family (NOT per student).


    Following the trial period, we anticipate continuing this programming at full scale in January 2026. See below for class offerings and pricing for the trial run of the Homeschool Music Collective!

    Wind Band

    Open to students ages 6 and up, our Wind Band class introduces young musicians to woodwind and brass instruments, including trumpet, trombone, clarinet, flute, and saxophone. Students will build foundational ensemble skills while exploring the excitement of performance.

    Mondays • 4:30–5:15 PM

    Held at our Guilford Campus (Mount Hope United Church of Christ).

    General Music and Theory

    Open to students ages 5 and up, our General Music & Music Theory class helps musicians build strong rhythmic skills, tonal understanding, and ear-training fundamentals.

    Tuesdays • 10:00–10:45 AM

    Held at our Alamance Campus (Macedonia Lutheran Church).

    String Orchestra

    Open to students ages 7 and up, our String Orchestra class offers hands-on instruction in violin, viola, cello, and bass, while developing strong ensemble skills and confident musical expression.

    Held at our Alamance Campus (Macedonia Lutheran Church).

    Modern Rock Band

    Designed for students ages 7 and up, Modern Rock Band gives young musicians the chance to play in a real band setting using electric guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. Students will collaborate, perform, and explore popular music styles together.

    Tuesdays • 1:00–1:45 PM

    Held at our Alamance Campus (Macedonia Lutheran Church).

    Piano (Ages 6-10)

    Ideal for beginner to early-intermediate students ages 6–10, this Piano class builds fundamental technique, ear-training skills, and expressive confidence at the keyboard.

    Thursdays • 10:00–10:45 AM

    Held at our Alamance Campus (Macedonia Lutheran Church).

    Piano (Ages 11+)

    For older students ready to grow their musicianship, this Piano class focuses on advancing technique, artistry, and musical independence through supportive group learning.
